Charles A. Hughes 816-426-7267, ext 229. The U.S. Dept. of Commerce,
NOAA, intends to acquire the repair of WSR-88D Radomes located
throughout the United States. This action will be awarded as a
requirements type contract for a base year and two option years.
Services shall include the following categories: Radome Installation
and Repair Services, the provision of Radome Supplies, Materials, and
Qualified Spare Parts; Engineering and Evaluation Services, Radome
Engineering Data and Engineering Change Proposals. Services will be
provided on an as needed basis. This repair service is being acquired
in support of the National Weather Service NEXRAD Operational Support
Facility in Norman, OK. The Radomes were originally provided by the
Electronic Space Systems Corporation of Concord, MA. (ESSCO). The
Government intends to contract with ESSCO to provide the services
identified. The Government believes that ESSCO is the only qualified
source to provide the range of services and components which would be
required to maintain the systems consistent with the original design
and performance of the original design specifications. The Government
does not own the specific technical data to ensure proper repair of the
Radomes. The Government knows of no other qualified source. The
intended procurement is for services for which the Government intends
to acquire from one manufacturer under the authority of 41USC253(c)(1).
Any business sources able to provide the qualified repair services on
the WSR-88D ESSCO Radome are encouraged to respond to this announcement
within 15 days after it's publication. Interested firms should submit
in writing, their name, address, point of contact, telephone number,
business size and a brief statement regarding their capability and
qualifications to provide repair services on the identified equipment,
and the name, telephone number, and point of contact for a businesses
or other Government agency to which it has previously provided the
service. This information should be submitted to the addresses stated
herein or may be faxed totelephone number 816-426-7530 ATTN: Chuck
Hughes. This is not a request for proposals and there is no
solicitation available at this time. This acquisition is being
conducted pursuant to the guidelines set forth in FAR part 15. A
determination by the Government not to open the requirement to
competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the
discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the
notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no
qualified responses are received, the Government intends to contract
with Electronic Space Systems of Concord, MA for the services required.
The anticipated award date shall be no less then 45 calendar days of
date of this announcement. The Standard Industrial Classification Code
is 3663. The small business size standard is 750 employees. This is
