seeking potential sources capable of performing developmental Airdrop
Services for Edwards AFB, CA. These services are currently being
performed by the Government and market research is being conducted to
determine if there are commercial sources which are capable of
performing this service. This Airdrop function identifies the
specifications needed to develop or modify existing deceleration
devices for a specific cargo (to include people) load. The Airdrop
Services provides for developmental testing of parachute recovery,
deceleration and attenuation systems. Coordinates on all test requests
and analyzes the capability of the airdrop research and development
flight to support these tests. Airdrop Services entail designing,
constructing, modifying and testing parachute test vehicles, personnel
emergency egress (from both fighter and cargo aircraft), new weapons
systems, cargo recovery systems and retro-rockets. Services also
include testing aircraft in order to certify it for its airdrop and
airland capacity given specific cargo requirements, to include testing
life support equipment. Airdrop Services performs build-up and rigging
of non-standard loads, which includes designing loads which have little
or no prior technical data. Build-up may involve design and
construction of mock-up and models that meet the specifications of the
actual load under study and rigging them for Airdrop. Airdrop Services
also include the following: provide for instrumentation, camera, and
range recovery; receiving and storing explosive devices used in the
deployment of parachutes and deceleration systems; perform aircraft
weapons load crew functions for these items. Firms capable of
performing the described services are invited to submit a description
