Johnson, Jr., Agreement Officer/E-mail: marcus@usaid.gov, Fax: 7-095-960-960-2140 The Procurement Office of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) solicits expressions of interest from sources who would like to receive a Request for Applications (RFA) for the new political party building and candidate training assistance activities in Kazakstan and Uzbekistan. Recipients will be invited to propose on either Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan separately, or a joint program for both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. It is possible that the Cooperative Agreement may be awarded to two separate grantees (one for Kazakhstan and one for Uzbekistan) or to one grantee (for both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan). The objective of the assistance program is to strengthen democracy in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan by assisting in the development of political parties and preparing parties and candidates to successfully compete in the parliamentary elections scheduled for 1999. The method of distribution of USAID procurement information is via the Internet or by request of a solicitation on a 3.5 floppy diskette (WordPerfect 5.1/5.2 format) upon request. Receipt of the RFA through INTERNET must be confirmed by written (fax or E-mail) notification to the contact person noted above.
