Procurement Office of the U.S. Agency for International Development
(USAID) solicits expressions of interest from sources who would like to
receive a Request for Applications (RFA) for the new political party
building and candidate training assistance activities in Kazakstan and
Uzbekistan. Recipients will be invited to propose on either Kazakhstan
or Uzbekistan separately, or a joint program for both Kazakhstan and
Uzbekistan. It is possible that the Cooperative Agreement may be
awarded to two separate grantees (one for Kazakhstan and one for
Uzbekistan) or to one grantee (for both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan). The
objective of the assistance program is to strengthen democracy in
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan by assisting in the development of political
parties and preparing parties and candidates to successfully compete
in the parliamentary elections scheduled for 1999. The method of
distribution of USAID procurement information is via the Internet or by
request of a solicitation on a 3.5 floppy diskette (WordPerfect 5.1/5.2
format) upon request. This CBD notice can be viewed and downloaded
using the Agency Web Site. The RFA, once issued, can be downloaded from
the Agency Web Site. The Worldwide Web address is
http://www.info.usaid.gov. Select Business and Procurement
Opportunities from the home page, then USAID Procurement. On the
following screen, select Download Available USAID Solicitations. Look
under the following directory for the RFA:
pub/OP/RFA/11598003/11598003.rfa. Receipt of the RFA through INTERNET
must be confirmed by written (fax or E-mail) notification to the
contact person noted above. It is the responsibility of the recipient
of this solicitation document to ensure that it has been received from
INTERNET in its entirety and USAID bears no responsibility for data
errors resulting from transmission or conversion processes. If an
interested party is not able to download the RFA via the Internet, they
may request a copy on diskette of the RFA by submitting a written
request via e-mail or fax,citing RFA No. 115-98-003 to
naosmanova@usaid.gov and "marcus@usaid.gov" or via FAX 7-3272-50-76-36.
All other types of telephonic requests will not be honored. Posted
