COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 6,1998 PSA#2130U.S. Dept. of Commerce, NOAA, WASC, Acquisition Management Division
WC3, 7600 Sand Point Way NE, Bin C15700, Seattle, WA 98115-0070 A -- OUTBREEDING DEPRESSION OF PACIFIC SALMON SOL 52ABNF900008 DUE
082598 POC To request a copy of the solicitation, contact Ms. BJ Huyck
at voice (206)526-4499 or fax (206)526-6025, or for further
information, contact Contract Specialist, Janice Sullivan at
(206)526-6032. NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has a
requirement for a study on outbreeding depression; the objective of
this study is two-fold: (1) to determine whether and to what extent
outbreeding depression is expressed among interbreeding populations of
Pacific salmon; and (2) if feasible, determine the underlying genetic
mechanisms responsible for its expression. The primary product of this
research will be one or more technical publications on outbreeding
depression in coho salmon, whose technical foundation will be used to
formulate recommendations for the genetic and phenotypic similarity of
hatchery and wild fish in salmon recovery programs. The Contractor
shall perform the experimental work at hatcheries located in
southeastern Alaska, including Gastineau Hatchery near Juneau, Alaska.
The period of performance is for one base year with an option for four
(4) additional one-year option periods. All responsible sources may
submit a proposal which will be considered by this agency. Posted
