Agency, Region 5, intends to negotiate a purchase order on a sole
source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with Caulfield Engineering, 1402
Main Street, P.O. Box 1329, Oroville, Washington 98844, for a
production demonstration of the Grand River sediments mapping utilizing
the Acoustic Core System. The contractor shall provide all equipment,
materials, and services required to conduct the survey. The contractor
shall demonstrate the production operation of the Acoustic Core system
on the Grand River at sites selected by the EPA. The contractor shall
demonstrate the accuracy of the Acoustic Core software to characterize
sediment type and map the distribution of sediment type at depth on
the Grand River, at sites selected by the EPA. The contractor shall
collect and conduct the necessary geophysical characterization of
sediment cores needed for calibration and validation of the acoustic
corer. The contractor shall provide files of each survey on 3.5"
diskette or CD in ASCII format and a data quality assurance summary by
site. The contractor shall provide graphical mapping of the sediment
distribution for each site using cross section plots showing density
grouping distribution for each run line. The contractor shall provide
a contour map for each site showing depositional sediment distribution.
The contractor shall calculate the volume of depositional sediment at
each site. The contractor shall provide all unanalyzed data and all raw
data which has been analyzed. Interested parties may identify their
interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit
quotations. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive
quotations. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which, if
timely received, will be considered by the agency. A determination by
the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon
responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the
Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for
the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive
