The Kansas City regional office of Job Corps is announcing a public information/advertising contract to assist with the development and implementation of a marketing plan to attract economically disadvantaged young adults, ages 16-24, to apply for vocational training programs funded through the Department of Labor. The region administers 14 residential training facilities in a 10-state area (Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah). A wide variety of occupational training courses are offered as well as development of academic and work/social skills and placement assistance upon completion. Over the period of a year, graduations and other types of terminations create the need for about 5,400 young men and 3,600 young women to maintain full capacity at the training facilities. Assistance is needed to attract sufficient numbers of eligible young adults, especially females, with the potential for success. The resulting contract will be for the period January 1, 1999 through December 31, 2000, with three one-year options.
