The Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (STARS) Program Office is in the process of upgrading the aircraft autopilot system on the E-8C aircraft from analog to digital. As part of this upgrade, the program office intends to acquire, from Northrop Grumman Corporation, one digital autopilot system to replace the current analog system on the Joint STARS E-8A configured trainer . The digital autopilot system must be certified for use on 707 aircraft and must be identical to the system developed and engineered by Northrop Grumman Corporation for the Joint STARS prototype aircraft. The unit must be able to interface with all system hardware and associated system software. The effort shall include, but is not limited to all engineering, program management, configuration control, equipment production, and quality assurance. The Government anticipates a 26 August 1998 contract award date. The unit must be ready for fielding within 1 year of contract award. Interested sources must submit responses within 15 days of publication of this notice. Responses should include information regarding the capabilities of the firm to accomplish this work.
