COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 7,1998 PSA#2131

Office of Acquisition and Grants, 1710 GWYNN OAK AVENUE, BALTIMORE, MD, 21207-5279

59 -- DUAL CORD POWER DEVICE DUE 071798 POC GINA DULANEY, 410-965-9508 WEB: Download Solicitation when/if available, http://www.ssa.gov/oag. E-MAIL: Contracting Officer, SSA/OAG, GINA.DULANEY@ssa.gov. This is not a request for proposals (RFP). The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking vendors who can provide information on a device/product that will allow two different/alternating incoming A/C power sources to supply an A/C output without interruption. The Dual Cord Power Device (DCPD) shall be capable of providing total redundancy utilizing two individual/dissimilar incoming alternating current (A/C) uninterruptible power supply (UPS) sources while providing, if necessary, multiple A/C output feeds. That is, either incoming A/C source may provide primary power, and upon failure of that incoming source, automatically transfer to the alternate incoming source. If either of the two power sources is lost or fails completely or is out of tolerance, the load equipment must be able to start up or continue running with no loss of data, hardware functionality, performance, or capacity. The DCPD shall be capable of multiple transfers from incoming source to source, back and forth, without affectingthe load side or critical A/C equipment load. The DCPD shall have an audible and visual alarm, indicating the DCPD has transferred to an alternate source and indicate the status of incoming potential on both the power sources. DCPD specifications shall include the following: 120 volts incoming voltage, 120 volts output voltage, 20 amps primary current, and 4-6 NEMA 5-20R receptacles A/C output supply. Contractor shall supply information on other volt and amp ranges; such as, 208 volts, single phase, 15/20/30 amp. The DCPD must comply with all National Electric Codes (NEC) and conform to Underwriters Laboratory Standards and any IEEE recommended practices in its function and construction. The DCPD shall be field proven incorporating the latest state of the art design and in compliance with the above specifications. Interested firms able to provide the required technology are invited to submit information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to provide the required capabilities. Cross- reference to previously submitted material is discouraged. No cost or pricing data is required or requested. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of data received, but sources deemed qualified will be solicited if and when the Government formally advertises for a requirement for the DCPD. The Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. Responses to this notice should be submitted in duplicate within 15 days of the publication of this notice and should refer to "DCPD."
