Aldridge (215) 697-9614 The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Norfolk Detachment Philadelphia, PA intends to procure on an unrestricted basis 133 EA. (1 EA. First Article for testing & 132 EA. Production units) MK 470 Mod 1 Sparrow Missile Containers. The MK 470 Mod 1 Container is a reusable container of aluminum construction used for shipping of naval ordnance. The container consists of rectangular base and a removable cylindrical cover assembly. The container base has a cradle assembly which is supported by eight elastomeric shear mounts and is equipped with a removable saddle. Foam packing is also incorporated into the base. The container is specially equipped with four lift/tiedown fittings, side forklift pockets, stacking features and endlift fittings which interface with the MK 45 Handlift Truck. One first article sample shall be inspected and required to undergo extensive shock, handling, strength and interface testing to demonstrate the adequacy and suitability of the contractor's processes and procedures in complying with the requirements set forth in the associated specification. The contractor shall provide an inspection system conforming to the requirements of ANSI/ASQC-Q9001. It is intended to award a Firm Fixed Price supply type contract. The applicable Standard Industrial Classification # is 3499. The solicitation will require the submission of a price proposal and past performance information. See Note 26.
