F -- EVALUATION OF SELECTED PESTICIDE FORMULATION AS A BARRIER TO MOSQUITO DISPERSAL IN WOODED AND RESIDENTIAL HABITATS SOL 98S255(Q) DUE 072498 POC Sue Lyle, Purchasing Agent, (404) 842-6781 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is seeking sources for obtaining services to develop and evaluate a technique for establishing a chemical pesticide barrier around residences to reduce dispersal of mosquitoes onto homegrounds and to evaluate a selected pesticide for its persistence in the field and its effects on local populations Ae. triseriatus and Ae.albopictus mosquitoes and provide a summary of data, statistical analysis and manuscript of project results. In order to conduct the required testing the vendor must have access to a wooded, non-residential site and a to a wooded residential site in the mid-Atlantic/Southern Appalachian Zone, in a region where the LaCrosse (LAC) virus and the two target mosquito species are found. All interested parties must submit a capability statement which demonstrates that your company meets the following minimum qualifications: (1) Experience in quantifying populations of the two mosquito species that are the subject of this study, and expertise in evaluating control programs. (2) Facilities for rearing mosquitoes and conducting laboratory bioassays of insecticide persistence, (3) Hold a valid, current pesticide applicators certification and experimental use pesticide applicators certification for the states(s) in which the trials are conducted, and have experience in experimental pesticide applications.
