It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure specialized archival services from Edward T. Fishwick, 4701 Willard Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD 20081, for the continuation in processing and digitization of Dr. Donald S. Fredrickson's papers. Mr. Fishwick is noted for his knowledge of electronic catalogs and digital technology. Mr. Fishwick has an academic background and expertise as well as bibliographic skills in the History of Medicine field. He is also knowledgeable and skilled with the management of historical data in an electronic environment. The continuation of this process with consist of providing a range of archival tasks in the processing of the Fredrickson papers for digitization including pre-scanning preparation of selected documents and post-scanning quality control and evaluation of the digital produce; analysis of the collection content and physical condition; development of a processing plan; arrangement and rehousing of documents; creation of an electronic archival finding aid and a MARC/AMC bibliographic record for entry in the NLM cataloging system; assisting the curator of the Modern Manuscripts Collection with onsite survey and appraisal of Dr. Fredrickson's office files; selection of documents for preservation; and transferring of files to NLM.
