Voitk (301) 713-0839 Ext 185 The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Forecast Systems Laboratory (FSL), Boulder, Colorado is seeking sources for a planned acquisition during FY99 of a high performance computer system (HPCS) to meet its research and development needs. The desired new system will replace an Intel Paragon and supplement the remainder of FSL's computing facilities including a Silicon Graphics Origin 2000. The HPCS will be used to sustain meteorological research programs such as the North America Atmospheric Observing System as well as parallel processing research as applied to real-time numerical weather prediction. This acquisition will also include additional hardware and software. The additional hardware will include storage devices, communications interfaces, and other peripherals. The software will include the operating system, compilers, and systems management software.
