The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) anticipates issuing a RFP during the month of August 1998 for proposals from qualified subcontractors to perform a broad range of analytical studies and analyses pertaining to the changing electric utility sector with emphasis on renewable electric technologies and practices, and energy efficiency. Work to be performed will consist of specific analytical assignments which will be developed by NREL on an "as needed basis". The assignments will sometimes be of quick response nature, however most will be of longer-term. Typically, the specified period of performance may range from a few months up to one year. On occasion parallel assignments (tasks) will be required. It is anticipated that the activity level will be between three (3) and six (6) tasks during a given year with the total number of assignments over a three year (36 month) period expected to be approximately 12 to 15. The primary categories and areas of studies and analyses in which assignments will be made include (1) data and information development and management, (2) maintain an office in the Washington, D.C. vicinity where the bulk of the work would be accomplished, (3) analysis tools and methods development, (4) illustrate excellence in written and oral communication, and (5) staffing flexibility to meet unexpected analytic needs.
