R -- CONDUCT AN ANALYSIS OF DATA FROM THE NATIONAL STUDY OF ASSISTED LIVING POC Point of Contact: Cheryl Howe, Contract Specialist, 202- 690-5552 The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) intends to negotiate with the Myers Research Institute (MRI), Menorah Park Center for the Aging, 27100 Cedar Road, Beachwood, Ohio 44122, on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 to conduct analysis of data from the National Study of Assisted Living. The contract to conduct the national study of assisted living was awarded under a competitive solicitation to the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) in September, 1994. The RTI principal investigator/project director for that contract, and one of the research scientists involved in the study, left RTI to join MRI, leaving RTI without the staff capacity to bring the analytic phase of the study to a successful conclusion. The purpose of this contract will be to analyze the data from the survey received by RTI, prepare a final report and then conduct briefings of senior Departmental officials on the study findings. MRI is currently engaged in applied gerontological research with several projects related to assisted living. With the added expertise from the former RTI members, MRI is exclusively qualified to perform this work. The purpose of this synopsis is to comply with the notice requirements of FAR 5.201. Any organization which believes that it is capable of performing similar services should submit a statement of capabilities with documentation supporting its ability to meet the Government's requirements as described above.
