The Integrative Neuroscience Unit of the NIDA IRP is seeking a Masters
or Ph.D. level Analytical Chemist with expertise in HPLC/EC,
HPLC/fluorescence, microdialysis (conventional and quantitative) and
rotating disk electrode voltametry. The individual will be responsible
for: 1) development of HPLC procedures for the analysis of
catecholamine and excitatory amino acid release from discrete regions
of the CNS. 2) quantification of fentamolar-nanomolar concentrations of
catecholamines/amino acids from CNS dialysate samples. 3) the conduct
and analysis of conventional and quantitiative in vivo microdialysis
experiments in the rodent and non-human primate. 4) design and conduct
of kinetic studies of dopamine and serotonin transporter function
using rotating disk electrode voltametry. 5) assisting in the write-up
and presentation of data. Familiarity with laboratory animals is
essential. The individual will be part of a team assessing the
mechanisms in the brain by which cocaine and methamphetamine produce
long-term alterations in brain function. Term for Completion: September
