Z -- REPAIRS AND RENOVATIONS TO BACHELOR ENLISTED QUARTERS (BEQ) 550, FLEET COMBAT TRAINING CENTER, ATLANTIC, DAM NECK, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA SOL N62470-97-R-8749 DUE 082198 POC Contact Point, Tracey J. Branscum, (757) 433-2621 The work involves the repair and alteration of Building 550, a Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ) at Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic, Dam Neck, Virginia Beach, VA. The existing HVAC system shall be replaced to be in accordance with current BEQ standards. Heating and domestic hot water will be provided by a natural gas boiler and chilled water will be piped for the existing district BEQ chilled water plant. VAV units wil be located in the sleeping rooms, ceiling suspended outside the bathrooms. Metal stud and gypsum board head walls, with acoustical panel ceilings, shall be provided outside the bathrooms to conceal the VAV units. A number of rooms currently used as sleeping rooms will be converted to mechanical rooms and contain air handling units. A ceiling-suspended HVAC unit at the main lobby shall serve ductwork above the existing suspended ceiling grid. Acoustical ceiling panels at the lobby shall be replaced. Mechanical, laundry, machine, and janitor's rooms shall be heated with electric unit heaters. Asbestos, lead, PCB and mercury containing materials shall be properly abated where disturbed, exposed, or removed. The existing hollow metal entrance system, hollow metal doors and aluminum windows at the existing sleeping rooms shall be removed and replaced with aluminum frame fiberglass-reinforced-polyester (FRP) faced doors, aluminum thresholds, single hung aluminum windows and metal stud infill with thin brick veneer and plaster veneer on gypsum substrates. Plumbing fixtures shall be replaced. Water saving water closets, vanities and lavatories shall be provided. The vanity at each sleeping room shall be replaced, as well as the light at each vanity. The exhaust fans at each bathroom shall be removed, and a centralized ducted exhausted system put in its place. Optional Bid Item No. 1 shall consist of three-stop hydraulic service elevator in a brick masonry tower at the front walkway between the center and north wings of the building. Optional Bid Item No. 2 shall include removal of existing and provision of new flush tank water closets at 171 sleeping room baths and removal of (2) existing and provision of (2) new flush water closets at main lobby. Plans and Specifications will be available on 7/22/98. Proposal Due Date is 8/21/98. Estimated cost range between $1,000,000 -- $5,000,000. A CHARGE WILL BE MADE FOR EACH SET OF HALF-SIZE PLANS. The cost for each half-size set of plans and specifications with the solicitation package is $50.00. This price includes postage. These sets will be made availabe upon receipt of a written request, and a non-refundable check or money order made payable to the U.S. Treasury. This project is not set aside for small business concerns. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered.
