SOLICITATION NUMBER 53SBNB860103 IS BEING ISSUED AS A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION (RFQ) USING SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES. Incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-04. This acquisition is set aside 100% for small business. The SIC code is 3541 and the related small business size standard is 500 employees. The National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST's) Center for Neutron Research has a requirement for a Tool Room Lathe which will be used for used for onsite manufacture/modification of specimen/sample holders, neutron research instruments and their components, and facility maintenance. The Contract Line Item Number (CLIN), quantity, and unit issue are as follows: CLIN 0001, Tool Room Lathe (as described in the technical specifications below), one (1) each; and CLIN 0002, Installation, Setting & Leveling the Lathe, one (1) lot. The following are the technical specifications of the equipment: 1) 5C Spindle nose w/lever style collet closure; 2) Spindle nose OD 4 degrees; 3) SWING CLEARANCES: a) over bed 11"; b) over carriage 9"; and c) over cross slide 6"; 4) SPINDLE CAPACITIES: a) w/jaw chucks 5"; b) w/expanding chucks 3'; and c) w/5C collets 1 1/16"; 5) 18" between centers distance; 6) MACHINE TRAVEL DISTANCES: a) cross slide 6"; b) compound slide 3"; and c) tailstock 3 "; 7) POWER FEED RANGES: a) carriage 5/16-7"; b) carriage slide 3/16-4"; 8) TAILSTOCK SPINDLE: a) diameter 1.358"; b) taper M.T. No. 2; 9) MOTORS: a) main motor 1/.5 HP, 2 speed, 208v, 3 phase; and b) coolant pump hp, 208v, 3 phase; 10) 130-3000 rpm variable spindle speed; 11) English and metric thread cutting capacity; and 12) Variable power feed speed adjustable while running. THE FOLLOWING ACCESSORIES SHALL BE INCLUDED WITH THE TOOL ROOM LATHE: 1) 2 axis digital readouts, installed and accurate to .0005; 2) 5C collet set 1/64 to 1-1/16" by 1/64 increments; 3) Tapped and slotted face plate; 4) PRECISION CHUCKS: a) 3 jaw w/.0005" Total Indicator Runout (TIR) repeatability and .0005" TIR concentricity adjustment; b) 6 jaw w/.0005" Total Indicator Runout (TIR) concentricity adjustment; and c) 4 jaw w/independent reversible jaws (all above chucks (3) shall be supplied w/4 degree adapter plates for spindle); 5) #2 precision live center w/morse taper; 6) 2 POSITION CHANGE TOOL HOLDER POST WITH: a) cutoff holder; b) turning and facing holder; c) turning, facing, and boring holder; d) " capacity boring bar holder; and 7) KEY STYLE DRILL CHUCKS: a) 0-1/2" capacity; b) 0-3/8" capacity; and c) adapters for each to Morse taper #2.
