The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Albuquerque Operations Office (AL), intends to issue Request for Proposal (RFP) No. DE-RP04-98AL76941, using full and open competition, for the acquisition of natural gas transportation services to its Pantex Plant located near Amarillo, Texas. The RFP planned issue date is August 3, 1998. These services will consist of providing gas transportation services, pipeline maintenance services (if the offeror plans to utilize DOE's existing pipeline), and an option for Back-up Gas Supplies. The term of the contract will be a base period of five years, with one-five year option for continued service. The estimated quantity is 2,400,000 MMBtu each, for the basic term and option term. A Commercial Items/Utility/Requirements type contract award is contemplated. DOE's gas consumption for Fiscal Years '96 and '97 were 446,572 MMBtu and 453,141 MMBtu, respectively.
