Subject projects involves plans and other related documents to provide labor, materials, and equipment to replace the Approach Light System on the south end of the Whiteman AFB runway. Remove existing lighting fixtures, concrete bases, transformers, conduit, wiring and light bars. Replace removed items with new parts that will match the Air Force Approach Lighting Sequenced Flashing type 1 System (ALSF-1). The completed facility will match the previously repaired Approach Lights on the north end of the runway with the exception that the south end will be capable of switching back and forth from ALSF-1 to Simplified Short Approach Lighting System with Runway Alignment Indicator Lights (SSARL). The runway will continue to be used throughout the construction period. Contractor will be restricted to maximum height of equipment. Contractor will need to construct temporary threshold markings. Two 4,300 foot 5KV #8 unshielded PVC power cables are to be replaced from the Airport Lighting Vault to the Approach Lights. A total of 19, five lamp, light bars with strobes are to be replaced. the control switch for the operatin of the Approach Lights is to be installd in the Airport Control Tower. A new eight pair control cable is to be run in existing underground ducts from the Control tower through the Airport Lighting Vault to the Approach Lights. Magnitude of this project is between $500,000 to $1,000,000. This is a Firm-Fixed Price contract. The SIC Code for the project is 1611. The Proposed procurment is Unrestricted.
