The US Army Tank-Automotive Armaments Command-Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ intends to enter into a sole source contract with General Dynamics Ordnance Systems (GDOS) for the fabrication of the component hardware for the M86 Projectile Burster and LAP (Load,Assemble and Pack) a quantity of 95,000 each M86 Projectile Bursters for the M929 Smoke Cartridge, 120mm. This is a one time buy. The required delivery date is 30 Sep 98. The Government will provide Government Furnished Material GFM (Composition B) for the M86 Projectile Burster. The contractor should have the capability to safely and properly store 14,000 lbs. of Composition B explosive (Hazard Class 1.1, Group D, Class A Explosive). The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received after the date of publication of the synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract modification, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Firms should address Melt Pouring, inspection process (including crirical defects), equipment, facilities (including X-ray capability), tooling, materials (including packaging and palletization material) and production delivery schedule (10,000 first month/24,000 per month thereafter).
