The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) is planning
work in concert with Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ONRL) during an
18-month period as a follow-on effort to contract DAAE07-97-C-X114,
awarded to Sulzer Metco of Westbury, New York. The effort is made up of
two objectives: Objective 1 is to develop optimized manufacturing and
quality verification procedures for specific thermal spray to be
applied to military vehicle and diesel engine components for repair and
salvage applications. Objective 2 is to install new plasma coating
equipment and/or modify the High Velocity Oxygen Fueled (HVOF) coating
system, currently in place at Red River Army Depot (RRAD). The scope
of work to be conducted by ONRL in support of this program is to be
funded and defined under a separate Government agreement, which will
assure independent laboratory analysis and verification of
contract-developed plasma spray component reclamation processes. If
