The project consists of maintenance dredging portions of the Channel to Newport News to a depth of 51 feet with an allowable overdepth of one foot. The contractor, at his option, shall perform the work with a hydraulic dredge and discharge the dredged material into the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Diked Placement Area by pipeline, or perform the work with a bucket dredge and deposit the dredged material by bottom-dumping scows within the Rehandling Basin at the Craney Island Drdged Material Management Area. For bids based on deposit of dredged material in the Rehandling Basin, the Government will add the current rehandling charge of $1.20 per cubic yard, to be paid by the Government, for purposes of determing the low bidder. Including allowable overdepth and estimated accretion of 7,000 cubic yards of material to August 1998, the work involves dredging approximately 215,000 cubic yards of material. Magnitude of this project is estimated between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. Duration of the project is 45 calendar days. THIS IS AN UNRESTRICTED PROCUREMENT. SIC Code 1629 applies.
