The National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST's) Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory has a requirement for a Precision Optical Component Assembly to be used as the metrology reference frame for the NIST Molecular Measuring Machine. The assembly shall be comprised of 9 pieces. There shall be a central "square box" to which the other components shall be attached. There shall be four (4) "side mirrors" that will be optically contacted to the outer edges of the square box. There shall be two "top mirrors" that will be optically contacted to the top of the square box along two edges. There shall be two "capacitance gage plates" which shall be delivered separated from the assembly. These will be optically contacted onto the top of the square box at a later date by NIST. Flatness of 30nm peak-to-valley shall be required on all mirror surfaces. Angular alignments of the mirrored surfaces with respect to one another shall be one microradian or less. The assembled optic is to be used in an ultra-high vacuum environment. It must be able to withstand bakeout temperatures of 150 degrees Celsius. These specifications are not all-inclusive, a complete specification and drawings will be released with the solicitation.
