Requested proposals will consist of ten (breakfast and dinner) menus developed by the offeror utilizing light weight, high quality, commercial components to the maximum extent possible. A Statement of Work will describe the requirement. Proposals will be for a new ration intended to feed up to 600 persons two hot meals per day under "field" conditions and will be evaluated based on minimum weight and volume, ease of preparation and quality. Each meal must meet the nutritional requirements for Operational Rations. Ready to eat (heat and serve) components are desired. Completed meal modules, in units of 50 meals @, are required to have a 6 month shelf life at 80 degrees F. Resulting contract may require the contractor to maintain inventory levels for this product on behalf of DOD. The annual estimated quantity is for 1246 modules of 50 meals @.
