bellm@cc.tacom.army.mil. The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments
Command (TACOM) will be negotiating with Boeing Company, Space and
Physics Laboratory, in St. Louis, Missouri on a sole source basis for
this effort. A five-year, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for
approximately $1,125,000 will be issued. This project will provide for
the additional development of energy-dependent laser protection
materials and laser-protected combat vehicle vision systems. Boeing has
developed two design concepts with computer generated optical
components whose performance is theoretical. The designs will be
verified, and prototype construction and testing will commence. Several
iterations of design and fabrication are anticipated as we work to
integrate the new vision system with the tank commander's weapon
station. Estimated release date: 30 August 98. See numbered notes 22
and 26. Posted 07/10/98. (0191) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0006 19980714\A-0006.SOL)
