DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The work includes the upgrade to an existing passenger elevator in building A33, at the Space and Naval Warfare System Center, San Diego to meet current life safety code and criteria. The elevator manufacturer was Beckwith Elevators and was installed in 1952, then modernized in 1974. LOCATION: The work is located at Building A-33, the Naval Command and Ocean Surveillance Center, RDT&E Division, San Diego, California. The exact location we be directed by the Contracting Officer. PRE-BID SITE VISITATION: Prospective quoters are urged and expected to inspect the site where the work is to be performed and to satisfy themselves as to all general and local conditions that may affect the cost of performance to the extent such information is reasonably obtainable. In no event will a failure to inspect the site constitute grounds for withdrawal of quotation after opening or for a claim after issuance of the purchase order. One site visit has been tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, 4 August 1998 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
