Ground Sensors(UGS) for Counterdrug Applications Organization:
Department of Defense, Counterdrug Technology Development Program
Office, Code B07 Introduction/Purpose: The purpose of this sources
sought announcement is to obtain information from manufacturers of
unattended ground sensors that are currently available for law
enforcement and counterdrug applications. The sensor(s) is intended to
be used to detect, monitor and possibly identify personnel and ground
vehicles crossing the border with Mexico and Canada. The information
will be catalogued by manufacturer/vendor. This information will be
collected into a single document that is to be provided to the
Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service for their
use in possible future procurement of UGS. Information Required: The
following information will be required 1. Individual Sensor external
size and weight 2. Power requirements 3. Portability (1 man, 2 man
carry, forklift, etc) 4. If Battery Operated-type of batteries,
operational time at 0 degrees F and at 120 degrees F. 5. External
environmental limitations/operational conditions 6. Sensor type(
acoustic, seismic, radar, infrared, laser, RF, etc), detection ranges
and probabilities, detection algorithms and false alarm rejection
capabilities 7. Communication/status/alarm reporting capabilities 8.
Geolocation capability 9. Network capability 10. Software operating
system 11. Computational capability 12. Mean time between failures and
mean time between maintenance 13. Operational level maintenance
actions 14. Depot/manufacturer level maintenance actions 15. Cost per
unit/system 16. Projected cost for maintenance for a 5 year period

This is a Sources Sought announcement only, and not a Request for
Proposal (RFP) or an announcement of a solicitation. Respondents who
submit proprietary data shall clearly mark the data with appropriate
markings. The Government will not pay for any materials provided to it
in response to this synopsis. Submittals provided in response to this
