afranci@nswc.navy.mil. The Dahlgren Division, Naval Surface Warfare
Center, intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Indefinite
Delivery/Indefinite Quantity to Astarte Fiber Networks, Inc. for fiber
optic switches. Astarte is the only manufacturer that can meet the
Governments real time requirements. The contract will be for a minimum
quantity of one switch and a maximum quantity of forty five switches
with a three year period of performance. The required switches are the
only switches which can meet the Government=s real time simulation
requirements, which include the following specifications: no optical to
electrical conversions, any port to any port connectivity, 100 percent
non-blocking signal throughput, 99 percent of connections less than or
equal to 2.0dB and 1.0 percent of connections less than or equal to
2.5dB, less than 50 dB crosstalk, bi-directional transmission,
simultaneous multi-wavelength capability, load sharing redundant power
supplies, and remote terminal, pc and local control. In addition the
switch shall interface with a minimum of 72 fiber paths and shall be
configured for use with 62.5 micron multimode fiber optic cable with
either "SC" or "ST" style connectors. This procurement also includes
on-site installation and integration of all supplied hardware and
software plus one year on-site warranty and requires delivery 120 days
