The United States Merchant Marine Academy intends to negotiate a contract for in-patient hospital care services and on-site health services for Midshipmen who attend the Academy. The hospital must be a full service medical facility, licensed by the State of New York, which offers the following: Medical and surgical care and treatment requiring hospitalization or outpatient consultations and associated care; consultations in clinics, emergency rooms; or in-patient care encompassing all medical and surgical specialties, including but not limited to: Allergy and Immunology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Hematology, Nephrology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology, Opthamology, Physical Medicene, Plastic Surgery, Pulmonary Disease, Proctology, Radiology, Rheumatology and Ambulatory Surgery. Also included will be all drugs, medications, supplies, equipment, tests for diagnosis and treatment in clinics, emergency rooms or in-patient care that is routinely provided by the hospital to its patients. The hospital shall be no more than 30 minutes driving time from the Academy. On-site services will include those of one part-time physician, one registered nurse, two physician assistants (one full-time, one part-time), one full-time clinical psychologist, one part-time pharmacist, one full-time workman's compensation technician, and one full-time medical secretary. The period of performance for the contract will be from October 1, 1998 through September 30, 1999, with the possibility of four option years. This acquisition will be processed using procedures at FAR Subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Requests for copies of the solicitation will be accepted in writing only.
