MALARIA STUDY SOL 98S249(N) DUE 072998 POC Charlotte Flitcraft,
Contract Specialist, (404) 842-6740 The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with
Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center, located in Atlanta, GA, a
requirement for Contractor services to provide housing, maintenance and
veterinary services for approximately ten (1) experimental primates
(chimpanzees) per year to be used by CDC in conducting Malaria
research. The length of time between collection of blood samples and
processing of the samples by CDC is of the essence. The parasites
contained in the blood samples will degrade within a few hours after
collection from the chimpanzees and all work must be done by CDC before
this optimum time passes. The Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center
is the only organization within close proximity to the CDC Chamblee
Facility which will allow CDC to transport and process the material
before the parasites become degraded and uninfective to mosquitoes. The
period of performance will be for a base year with four twelve month
option periods.See Note 22. Posted 07/14/98 (I-SN223166). (0195) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0022 19980716\B-0004.SOL)
