The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) anticipates a requirement for the improvement and upgrade of seven Scientific-Atlanta (SA) model SA-3106 pedestals and two SA-3204 pedestals, one at a time, under a schedule agreed to by the government. The improvement and upgrade shall include the following: (Note: the terms "replace" implies "replace with new part of equal or better performance.") Replace existing motors; replace existing silicon control rectifier power control units; refurbish reduction gears and gear box in the AZ and EL axes; replace all internal wiring, refurbish each pedestal, replace all fastening hardware, provide one year warranty on all parts and labor; lubricate all gears and fittings; replace AZ and EL brake assemblies, access doors, and torque limiters; and replace all seals, gaskets, and grommets. Additionally, the government requires a detailed dynamic pointing error budget calculation spreadsheet (PC compatible). The spreadsheet shall be used to calculate the total theoretical system dynamic pointing uncertainty of the SA positioners in their operational configuration. The government may require additional refurbishment beyond what is specified above. Acceptance testing shall be performed using the government furnished SA controller shipped with the positioner. The contractor shall provide all necessary test equipment and tools. This requirement shall be formally synopsized prior to release of the Request for Proposals.
