WEB: 301818Q624, http://cbdnet.access.gpo.gov. The U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service is seeking to purchase a stripper head (rice type) to
fit a mid-sized combine to be used in harvesting native grass seed at
the Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge, Titonka, Iowa. The combine
brand is unknown at this time, quote shall include prices for each
adapter kit of the major brand name combines, i.e., John Deere, New
Holland, Case IH, Agco Gleaner. A separate purchase order will be
issued or this order will be modified for the adapter kit when the
brand name of the combine is known. The stripping rotor head must be
capable of removing dried seed from native warm and cool season
grasses, as well as, a variety of forbs (wildflowers). The grass or
forb stalk must be left intact after the combine has past and removed
the seed. Standing grass stalks left in the field after harvest are
highly desirable from a wildlife perspective. Harvesting of the seed
only (predominantly) will provide much cleaner seed with reduced or no
need for additional cleaning. The Standard Industrial Classification
Code is 5083 Farm and Garden Machinery and Equipment. Small business

not be accepted. Posted 07/17/98 (W-SN225168). (0198) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0335 19980721\37-0001.SOL)
