COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 21,1998 PSA#2141LOW OBSERVABLES AND COUNTERMEASURES CONFERENCE The Association of Old
Crows (AOC) and the National Defense Industrial Association will
present a Low Observables (LO) and Countermeasures (CM) Conference
August 18-20, 1998 at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
The conference will be at the Secret, U.S. Only classification level.
Co-chairmen for the conference are Dr. Stanley Alterman, Alterman
Associates, and William Delaney, MIT Lincoln Laboratory. The conference
will provide a forum for exchanging information and advancing ideas to
enhance aircraft survivability through the complementary application
of LO/CM technologies. This event will expand on a 1996 symposium, "The
Impact of Low Observable Technology on Aircraft Survivability." This
conference focuses on LO and CM technologies as a cost-effective
approach to enhancing aircraft combat survivability. Keynote speakers
will include Lt Gen Frank B. Campbell, USAF, Director for Force
Structure, Resources and Assessments; Lt Gen George Muellner, USAF,
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition); MG
Ronald E. Adams, USA, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations and
Plans (Force Development), US Army; RADM Dennis V. McGinn, USN,
Director, Air Warfare Division, Office of the Chief of Naval
Operations; Maj Gen George Gregory Martin, USAF, Director of Operation
Requirements, HQ USAF; Bennette D McGraw, CIA; Ronald Mutzelburg,
Deputy Director, Strategic and Tactical Systems (Air Warfare), OSD;
Anthony Grieco, Deputy Director, Strategic and Tactical Systems (EW);
Dr. Robert Cooper, Chairman, Defense Science Task Force on EW/LO; and
Dr. David Whelan, Director, Tactical Technology Office, Defense
Advanced Research Projects Agency. Papers will include "The Emerging
Threat to US LO Aircraft"; "Enhancing Aircraft Survivability through
Integrated LO/CM"; "The Acquisition Challenge"; "Foreign Technology
Developments in LO/EW"; " Overview of US LO Technology"; "EW/LO
Technology to Defeat Radar/Infrared (IR) Threats"; "Technology of LO/CM
Technology to Defeat IR Seekers"; and "Impact of EW/LO Technologies on
Target Accessibility." Other papers addressing stealth will explore
suppression of enemy air defense operations, mission trade-offs in the
JASSIM Program, and integration within the Joint Strike Fighter. The
Miniature Air-Launched Decoy, unmanned combat aerial vehicles, and
rotorcraft survivability will also be covered. Considering the
