consists of repairs to the visitors quarters (VQ) suites and
distinguished visitors quarters (DVQ) suites. This project is designed
to divide four existing VQ suites on the second and third floors in
half, thus creating four units per floor. Each dwelling unit shall be
provided with a living room with a small kitchen area, a bedroom, and
a full bathroom with a shower. In addition, the second floor consist of
changing the occupancy of the existing kitchen, which is located in the
appendages at the rear of the main building, in to a laundry. The
Hampton suite located on the first floor will provide for a handicap
accessible public toilet at the lobby area and new administrative area
will consist of new private toilet and storage area, and upgrade
finishes throughout the suite, including the existing laundry. The
first floor Jamestown suite will rpvivde for a handicap accessible
toilet within the suite, change existing office space into a bedroom,
and upgrade finishes throughout the suite, including the existing
kitchen. The project will include providing acessible fire excapes for
all occupants, providing fire sprinkler system throughout,
occupant-controlled heating and air conditioning units, new electrical
panels and wiring, improved energy efficient lighting, lead-based
paint abatement of all wood surfaces, and replacement gutter and
downspouts. The electrical system being replaced are old cloth-wrapped
insulation which constitutes a fire hazard. Deteriorated carpet
furnishings will be repalaced. Existing fire detection and alarm system
is obsolete and will be repalced with an system in accordance with
N.F.P.A. and National Electric Code. This will comply with the
Americans Disability Act (AD) and will be coordinated through the State
Historic Reservation Office. Magnitude of project is estimated to be
between 600,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. Duration of the project is 120
calendar days. THIS IS AN UNRESTRICTED PROCUREMENT. SIC Code 1542
