TACOM-ARDEC is issuing a solicitation, restricted to US and Canadian firms, for establishment of a capability to produce bridgewired (electrically initiated) energetic components efficiently a high rates. This includes both primary explosive devices such as the M100 electric micro-detonator, as well as actuating devices such as minature piston and bellows actuators. The high rate capability is also required for pyrotechnic delay detonators and stab/ flash/percussion-initiated detonators. The contractor will be required to establish a production capability that can produce these components at a high rate and at a competitive price. The contractor will be required to demonstrate that it has successfully established the capability to be producing a number of components at a specified rate. The Government is seeking to co-invest with the contractor to establish this capability.
