Period of performance October 1, 1998 through September 30, 1999, plus
two option years. All feed must be of research grade in accordance
with the standards of the American Association for Accreditation of
Laboratory Animal Care. Contractor must store, maintain, and transport
animal feed in accordance with guidelines set forth by the American
Association for Accreditation of Laboratory ANimal Care (AAALAC) and
the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations.
Laboratory bedding shall contain no hydrocarbons. Brand name is
required when specified andno "equal" substitutions will be considered.
Alteration of the ingredients makeup is not allowed as any changes
could change the outcome of research project results. The same diet,
with no changes, is required throughout the research term. If offering
on an item othe than what is specified, where permitted, the offeror
shall submit along with their proposal, descriptive literature that
specifies the nurtirent and ingredient contents of the item they are
proposing. See solicitation for complete instructions on offering
"equal" products. Milling date and product composition must be
indicated on all containers of feed. Date must be current and the date
must be no more than sixty (60) days prior to delivery. For the VAMC,
San Francisco, the milling date must be no more than forty-five (45)
days prior to delivery. Outdated feed will not be accepted. Bags shall
be whole and intact, and otherwise unperforated and undamaged upon
delivery and examination by the Government. If unacceptable, Contractor
will be required to keep damaged product and replace with acceptable
