& Mortar Division, is soliciting for subcontracting purposes only, from
qualified organizations, engineering and technical services to complete
technical work that includes support to the M198 Howitzer, M198 Rapid
Force Projection Initiative (RFPI), Lightweight 155 Howitzer, M119A1
Howitzer, and the M1 Abrams Fire Control. This will be a five year,
requirements contract and the tasks will include developing and
providing technical information to assist writers and illustrators in
the compilation and publication of technical manuals and technical
bulletins, developing and providing recommendation and rationale for
positions on logistics issues concerning maintenance/operational
concepts and design features, recommending and providing data to
simplify system maintenance and improve its serviceability, hands on
maintenance technical assistance on weapon systems and/or training to
equipment users, developing logistics management information related to
provisioning of equipment improvements and/or new systems, and
performing maintenance of sighting and fire control equipment on
various tracked, towed and self-propelled systems. 22. The proposed
contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government
intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the
authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest
and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This
notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However,
all proposals received within forty-five days after date of publication
of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination
by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based
upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the
Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for
the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive
