Congressman Jim Moran for the 1998 Eighth District Trade Conference,
"Exporting in the 21st Century: Helping Northern Virginia Businesses
Win in the Global Marketplace." The congressman has organized this
conference in cooperation with the Northern Virginia Export Assistance
Center as a way to provide the business community with hands-on
information about export opportunities and the assistance that is
available to them from the federal government. Participants will learn
about customs requirements and documentation, electronic commerce, and
how to solve problems when they arise. Northern Virginia firms are
poised for dynamic growth as we approach the 21st century. Export
opportunities-in areas ranging from information technology to
government procurement-will expand rapidly as information technologies
continue to develop and as world trade opens up even greater

businesses; 11:30am to 12:15pm "Getting Started: The Nuts and Bolts of
Exporting" Presentation by a local freight forwarder who will discuss
customs requirements, documentation, and shipping issues; 12:30pm to
1:30pm Lunch (Cafeteria) 1:30pm to 2:30pm "Exporting in the Information
Age: Making the Internet and Electronic Commerce work for you" Northern
Virginia Export Assistance Center, STAT-USA; 2:30pm Adjourn for
Exhibitors and Consultations. The Cost of the conference is $25.
