978-5137 The floating trash deflector consists of two shore-mounted
truss-type reaction arms and a system of vessel-type pontoons connected
by horizontal steel supports with a walkway and a vertical steel plate
deflector panel at the leading edge. The deflector panel extends two
feet above and two feet below the water surface elevation of the intake
channel. The contractor is required to; a. remove and store the
deflector panel, downstream tension arm, walkway, handrailing and 4"
waterline; b. remove and properly dispose of the remaining trash
deflector metalwork; c. furnish, paint and install replacement
metalwork components (pontoons, struts, web struts, chords and hinge
connectors); furnish and install connecting pin sets; reinstall the
existing walkway, handrail, waterline, deflector panel and downstream
tension arm; and furnish and install a 2" dia galvanized steel handrail
approximately 100' long from the upstream reaction arm to the end of
the existing handrail. The price range of the work is between $250,000
and $500,000. Award will be made pursuant to the "Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program." Contractors do not have to be
a small business to submit an offer under this program. To request a

and reference the above solicitation number. Charge includes
solicitation, drawings, and US postage, and is not refundable. It is
estimated the solicitation will be issued August 10, 1998 and bids
