The satellite telephones should meet the following specifications: 1) lightweight (<6 lbs.) and compact; 2) voice (at least 4.8 kbps), fax, and data transfer (at least 2.4 kbps) capabilities; 3) multilingual display support; 4) cradle extension cable; 4) carrying case; 5) battery charging cradle; 6) data adapter cable with mini connector and regular 9-pin; 7) user's guide; 8) battery talk time must be over one (1) hour; 9) batteries must be easily recharged; 10) two batteries per phone (one to run phone, and one as backup); 11) AC and DC converter/charger (wall and cigarette lighter adapter); 12) handset or antenna extension cable; and 13) must be useable with any air time provider. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. The SIC Code and Size Standard are4813 and 1,500, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurment is DO-C9. The anticipated release date of RFQ 923-79839-0000-902 is on or about August 5, 1998, with an anticipated quote due date of on or about August 26, 1998. Award will be based on lowest quote that meets the specifications. All qualified responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency.
