To gain the necessary information, elk must be trapped and fitted with radio collars and then released. All collared elk will then be tracked using radio telemetry. The objectives of this project include (1)live trap elk deploying methods that minimize stress and pain, (2) collect blood samples, (3) collect antler samples, (4) extract one tooth from each elk, (5)deploy a radio equipped collar to each trapped elk, (6) release each animal without injury to the elk or the handlers.
