Additional work includes repair to U.S. Highway 93 at the approach to the bridge. Repair of the bridge approaches will include replacement of two expansion joints, repair of a connection joint, and repair or replacement of approximately 10 feet of roadway surfacing on each side of the expansion joints. The principal components of the work to be performed under these specifications include the following: (a) Excavation, removal, and disposal of existing bituminous surfacing from the Nevada Spillway Parking Lot (approx. 33,000 sq. ft.). Includes removal and salvage of 45 wheel stops from existing parking spaces. (b) Removal of approximately 4 inches of existing base material. (c) Compaction of sub-base material, including compaction of fill material in areas that have settled or were over-excavated to reach good sub-base material. (d) Furnishing and placing aggregate base course; approximately 400 cubic yards. (e) Furnishing and placing liquid asphalt. (f) Furnishing and placing plant-mix bituminous surfacing; approximately 300 tons. (g) Reinstalling existing wheel stops and adding new wheel stops as needed for additional parking spaces. Painting stripes in the lot and reinstalling signs. (h) Sandblast cleaning of construction joints in the concrete driveway to the Nevada Spillway Parking Lot. Cleaned construction joints will be filled with rubber caulking material that adheres to concrete. (i) Removing existing rubber expansion joints and replacing with new flexible, durable expansion joint material at the bridge approaches. (j) Repair existing metal plate connection joint that connects bridge to Parking Structure entry road. (k) Repair or replacement of the pavement before and after the expansion joints at each end of bridge in an effort to smooth out the transition. NOTE: All work will be performed at night between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Closure of the bridge to perform the work on the expansion joints will be limited to one-lane with traffic control. The work is situated at Hoover Dam and Powerplant which is located approximately 7 miles, via U.S. Highway 93, northeast of Boulder City, Nevada, in Clark County, Nevada. The estimated cost range of this project is $250,001 to $500,000. The performance time for completion of this project is 180 calendar days. For this acquisition the standard industrial classification code is 1611. The estimated issuance date of the solicitation is August 19, 1998. The ESTIMATED date for receipt of bids is September 18, 1998. There is a nonrefundable charge of $20 for each hard copy of the solicitation.
