The contractor will be responsible for providing 253 each M1A1 Special Mounting Bases and 253 each Sniper Grade Medium 30MM Scope Rings for the Designated Marksman Rifle/M-14. These items are considered a commercial type item; therefore it is anticipated that simplified acquisition procedures will be utilized. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Code CBG, has found through market research that the GG&G Inc. M1A1 Special Mounting Base and Sniper Grade Medium 30mm Scope Rings to be the only mounts with scope rings that meet the requirements necessary for the accuracy and reliability of the Designated Marksman Rifle/M-14. No RFP is available for competitive bidding; however, interested parties may submit a statement of capability for satisfying this requirement, to include descriptive literature and pricing, within 15 days of this announcement to the contact person listed above. This announcement is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all proposals received by the date identified above will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
