Robb, nancy.s.robb1@jsc.nasa.gov. NASA/JSC plans to issue a
solicitation for fabrication of T-38 engine inlet duct skins. The duct
skins are manufactured from .125 inch thick 2024 clad aluminum alloy
material. They are heat treated to T42 condition and require chemical
milling to .063 inch thick over roughly 80% of the part. Overall
dimensions are approximately 18 inches X 60 inches. Two duct skins (one
left and one right) will constitute one shipset. The release of a
solicitation for the fabrication of duct skins for the redesigned T-38
aircraft engine inlet nacelle is anticipated late July 1998. Drawings
and loft data are available. Loft data will be provided in IGES
format. Coordinate loft data can also be provided if requested. A
stretch form die, chemical milling template, and trim template will be
provided. Additional tooling (such as a stretch compression die) may
be required to manufacture these parts and if additional tooling is
required, it will be considered to be included in the base price of the
contract. The offeror's experience in manufacturing similar components
is critical. The first shipset of hardware (first article) is required
by 10 weeks after award of contract. There will be a basic contract
issued for 3 shipsets of duct skins with an option for 29 to 34
additional shipsets. If the option is exercised (option to be exercised
by December 31, 1998), delivery of the optioned hardware would begin 10
weeks after option exercise date. This procurement is being conducted
under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government
intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. The SIC Code
and Size Standard are 3441 and 500 employees, respectively. The DPAS
Rating for this procurment is DO-C9. The anticipated release date of
the solicitation is on or about July 31, 1998 with an anticipated offer
due date of on or about 15 calendar days after release of the
solicitation. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer
which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been
appointed -- See Internet Note "B". The solicitation and any documents
related to this procurement will be available over the Internet or may
be obtained in accordance with the instructions contained in the
solicitation. These documents will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word
6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format and will reside on a World
Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser
application. The WWW address, or URL of the NASA/JSC Business
Opportunities home page is

amendments (if any). Any referenced notes can be viewed at the
