DESC: This solicitation is being issued on a "restricted" basis
inviting full and open competition. Naval Air Station (NAS) Key West
requires a complete light gauge steel roof truss system. System shall
include fabricated trusses, upper chord purlins, and lower chord
bracing. Provide engineering design of system, fabrication of
components, and delivery. Provide truss namufacturers approved
fasteners in sufficient quantities for government installation of
pre-fabricated truss system components. A: System shall be designed to
provide adequate diaphragm action to distribute wind forces and roof
live loads uniformly to both the interior and exterior masonry walls.
B: Design Data: (1) 122 mph wind speed sustained. (2) 30 psf roof live
load. C: Upon award, offeror shall provide manufacturer prepared shop
drawings for approval prior to fabrication. Shop drawings shall bear
the seal of a registered Professional Engineer. Truss design shall be
in Conformance with "South Florida Building Code". D: Design standards
shall conform to the applicable provisions of the AISI "Specification
for the Design of Cold Formed Steel Structural Members", latest
edition. All load-bearing members shall have mechanical properties
determined by testing that conforms to ASTM A370, " Standard Test
Methods and Definitions for Mechanical testing of Steel Products",
Steel shall conform to ASTM A635. The members shall be cold formed, in
accordance with ASTM A500, to required sizes, profiles and thickness.
Steel components shall have a galvanized coating, minimum ASTM G60. E:
Trusses shall be shop fabricated from cold formed steel components in
accordance with the approved shop drawing using jigging systems to
ensure consistent component placement and alignment. Field fabrication
of trusses is strictly prohibited. F: Truss components shall be
fabricated such that there are no exposed metal edges. G: Upper chord
purlin spacing shall be 2'-0" maximum. H: Approximate size of roof
structure is 92' -- 0" x 62' -- 0" in a hip configuration. NAS Key West
will use the following factors to evaluate proposals: 1. Techincal
capability -- Each bid will be evaluated by a three member board. Only
those proposals passing this technical review will be considered. 2.
Price -- The Government will award a contract resulting from this
solicitation to the responsible offeror who proposes the best price and
meets the specifications or better. 3. Delivery Time -- 60 Days or
Sooner. All requests and offers should include Company name and
address, phone and fax numbers, POC, DUNS number and /or cage code,
business size, terms for payment, RFQ#, and signature. Additionally,
offerors shall include catalogs and/or descriptive brochures on product
they are offering. All questions shoul be faxed to Cherry Gibson,
