This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. Federal Acquisition Circular 97-04 applies to this acquisition. The National Institute of Standards (NIST) has a requirement for: i) Aerotech's model number ATS20025-U-1-02P-4-99/, ATS 2000 series linear positioning stage with 10 inches of travel, English dimension, mounting pattern and hoses, .2 in/rev ground ball screw, stepping motor with connector, home marker, and limits; ii) Aerotech=s model number ATS20020-U-1-02P-4-99/, ATS 2000 series linear positioning stage with 8 inches of travel, English dimension, mounting pattern and hoses, .2 in/rev ground ball screw, stepping motor with connector, home marker; and iii) Aerotech=s model number HDZ20/, English right angle L-bracket for ATS 2000 series stage. The Government intends to negotiate with Aerotech, 101 Zeta Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238-2897 on a non-competitive basis for this requirement. Aerotech is the only know supplier of stepper-motor-driven precision translation tables compatible with NIST's existing control equipment and which shall be mounted vertically and bear the required weight in the envisioned configuration while being sufficiently compact for intended application. Delivery is required no later than six (6) weeks after purchase order award. FOB is destination, Argonne, IL. This notice is not a request for competitive quotations from other manufacturers. However, NIST will consider all capability statements received within 14 days after the posting of this combined synopsis-solicitation. Interested small business concerns may identify their interest and capability by submitting a written capability statement. The capability statement must provide adequate information describing how they will satisfy the above requirements. If it is determined that another product can satisfy the requirements of this acquisition, NIST will solicit quotations with full and open competition. However, this determination is solely within the discretion of NIST. The provision 52.212-1, Instructions to offerors -- Commercial items, applies to this acquisition. The clause at 52.212-4, Contract Terms and Conditions-Commercial Items, applies to this acquisition.
