E-MAIL: Janice M. Stewart, janice.stewart@msfc.nasa.gov. NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for Pixellated Detectors to include the following: Item 1- Develop and fabricate a cadmium-telluride (CDTE) pixellated detector in accordance with the following specifications: Standard geometry detector with energy resolution better than 5% FWHM @ 60 KEV for every pixel; approximately 1 mm thick; P-I-N configuration; greater than 300 micron depletion, with 16 square readout pixels (4x4), on a 0.75 mm X 0.75 mm pitch; Quantity- 1 each; Item 2- Develop and fabricate a cadmium-zinc-telluride (CDZNTE) pixellated detector in accordance with the following specifications: standard geometry detector with energy resolution better than 5% FWHM @ 60 KEV for every pixel; 2 mm thick; metal-semiconductor-metal configuration, with 16 square readout pixels (4X4), on 0.75 mm X 0.75 mm pitch; Quantity- 1 each; Item 3- Develop and fabricate a cadmium-zinc-telluride (CDZNTE) pixellated detector in accordance with the following specifications: Standard geometry detector with energy resolution better than 5% FWHM @ 60 KEV for each pixel; 1 mm thick, metal-semiconductor-metal configuration, with 16 square readout pixels (4x4), on 0.75 mm x0.75 mm pitch; Quantity- 1 each; Item 4- Develop and fabricate a cadmium-telluride (CDTE) pixellated detector in accordance with the following specifications: Novel geometry detector with energy resolution better than 5% FWHM @ 60 KEV for each pixel; detector shall have an electrode design/configuration capable of suppressing the low energy tail in the pulse height spectrum that arises from variations in the x-ray absorption depth and hence the potential through which the charges whall drift; total number of events in the photo-peak at 122 KEV shall be greater than 90%; detector shall be 1 mm thick, P-I-N configuration; greater than 300 micron depletion, with 16 readout pixels (4x4), on 0.75 mm X 0.75 mm pitch; Quantity- 1 each; Item 5- Develop and fabricate a cadmium-zinc-telluride (CDZNTE) pixellated detector in accordance with the followingspecifications: Novel geometry detector with energy resolution better than 5% FWHM @ 60 KEV for each pixel; detector shall have an electrode design/configuration capable of suppressing the low energy tail in the pulse height spectrum that arises from variations in the X-ray absorption depth and hence the potential through which the charges shall drift; the total number of events in the photopeak at 122 KEV shall be greater than 90%; detector shall be 2 mm thick, metal-semiconductor-metal configuration, with 16 readout pixels (4x4) on a 0.75 mm x 0.75 mm pitch; Quantity- 1 each. Items 1 through 5 shall be supplied with discrete ultra-low-noise preamplifiers, appropriately bonded to each readout pixel and mounted with a peltier cooler in a vacuum housing with a beryllium window. Each housing shall have an appropriate connector to bring the S6 signals out for shaping and analysis. The noise threshold shall be less than 1 KEV. All data from these devices shall be the sole property of the George C. Marshall SpaceFlight Center, NASA. Selection and award will be made using Best Value Selection, based on criteria to included in the solicitation. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 3829 and 500, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurment is DO C9. The anticipated release date of RFQ 1-8-10-B9355 is on or about August 10, 1998 with an anticipated quote due date of on or about August 17, 1998. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B". Prospective offerors shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the solicitation and amendments (if any).
