Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for sound absorption
material and installation at the NIST campus located in Gaithersburg,
MD. Delivery and installation are required within 90 days after
purchase order award. FOB is destination. A general description of the
requirement follows. The contractor shall furnish and install
commercially available sound absorbers to the ceiling and wall areas of
the Guide Hall Building and the Reactor Confinement Building (building
C100) in accordance with the technical specifications. For the Guide
Hall building, the contractor shall furnish approximately 800 hanging
baffle type ceiling absorbers, in sufficient quantity to install
according to the drawings provided with the request for quotation. The
contractor shall provide an extra 10 panels to be used as
replacements. The hanging baffle type ceiling absorbers shall measure
approximately 2 x 4 feet and at least 2 inches thick. The sound
absorption per panel shall meet or exceed the following minimum
acceptable sound absorption per panel in Sabines: Freq., Hz 125 250 500
1k 2k 4k Adsorption 3.0 5.9 11 13 12 9.1 Baffle absorber shall be the
manufacturer's standard product. Surface covering shall be of a type
that can be wiped clean. The net weight of all ceiling mounted absorber
material, including all material required to hang or mount the ceiling
panels shall not exceed 4,000 pounds dead load. The color shall be
neutral beige or tan. All panels shall meet American Society For
Testing And Materials (ASTM) E 84 Class AA@ or A1" fire rating. The
contractor shall furnish and install a minimum of 10,000 square feet
(of the available 13,600 square feet) of wall absorbers as shown in the
drawings provided with the request for quotation. This area may be made
up of standard panels or custom sized panels that efficiently and
uniformly cover the available wall area of the Guide Hall. Wall
absorber surface covering shall be of a type that can be wiped clean,
the color shall be neutral beige or tan and shall meet ASTM E 84 class
AA@ or A1" fire rating. The contractor shall provide an additional 80
-- 100 square feet of wall panel, uninstalled, to be used as repair or
replacement materials. The wall absorber panels shall meet or exceed
the following minimum absorption coefficient specifications determined
in accordance with ASTM standards: Freq., Hz: 125 250 500 1k 2k 4k

roof joists in the Guide Hall in an alternating pattern on
approximately 5 foot centers as shown in the drawings. The total number
of installed baffles shall be as close to 800 has this pattern will
allow. The installation procedures must be in strict agreement with the
manufacture's recommended installation directions. The elevation of the
bottom of the ceiling baffles shall be uniform over the ceiling area
and shall not hang lower than 2 feet above the top level of the light
ballast units (located approximately 7 feet below roof deck level). The
wall soundabsorption panels shall be installed according to the
following specifications. The available wall area (13,600 square feet)
between the upper and lower window banks, shall be uniformly and
efficiently cover a minimum of 10,000 feet (standard or custom sized
panels may be used. Installation materials and methods must be in
strict accordance with the manufacturer's installation directions. For
the C100 building, the contractor shall furnish and install a minimum
of 4,000 square feet (of the available 8200 square feet) of absorber
material installed horizontally in the available recessed regions of
the C100 ceiling. This area may be made of standard or custom sized
panels that efficiently and uniformly cover the available ceiling
space. The contractor shall furnish an additional 80 -100 square feet
of the product, uninstalled, for use as replacements. The ceiling
absorbers shall meet or exceed the following minimum absorption
coefficient specification determined in accordance with all applicable
ASTM standards: Freq., Hz: 125 250 500 1k 2k 4k Abs. Coeff: 0.3 0.7
0.9 0.99 0.99 0.99 Material thickness must not protrude below the
recessed areas defined by the ceiling beams (this requirement implies
a maximum material thickness of 18 inches). The absorber material
covering shall be of a type that can be wiped clean. Color shall be a
neutral beige or tan. Absorber material shall meet an American Ass.
ASTM E 84 Class AA@ or A1@ fire rating. Ceiling absorbers shall be
mounted horizontally in the recessed portions of the ceiling. The
installation method must be in strict accordance with the
manufacturer's recommended installation directions. The Government
anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price purchase order utilizing
FAR Part 12 commercial procedures. All responsible sources may submit
