Notice of Intent to Sole Source -- The Operational Contracting Division, Services Contracting Branch, at Kirtland Air Force intends to award a sole source purchase order to Protective Door Industries for the replacement of the hinges on Kirtland Air Force Base's underground munitions storage complex blast door hinges. This also includes the repair of the doorframe for one of the blast doors. This acquisition has size qualifications under SIC 3442, size standard 500 employees. The basic period of performance will be 1 Oct 98 through 1 Apr 99. The proposed purchase order contains a statement of work. Work on this project consists of manufacture and installation of custom hinges for the blast doors (approximately 50,000 lbs. each). Contractor shall provide a door machine to hold the blast doors during installation as well as repair of the doorframe for one door (repair consists of cutting the framefrom the subframe, shifting the frame, and re-welding to the subframe). The door machine shall become government property after completion of work on blast doors. No contract will be awarded on the basis of responses received from this notice, since this notice cannot be considered a formal solicitation document.
