Keating, 202-482-2062 The U.S. Department of Commerce intends to negotiate with only Silicon Graphics Inc. to provide continued lease and maintenance of a Cray C90 computer system for the National Centers for Environmental Prediction. Services consist of monthly optional renewals for up to six months beginning with March 1, 1999, and include the lease, hardware maintenance, software licenses, and software support. Silicon Graphics Inc. is deemed the only responsible source capable of providing the required services. The statutory authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1. Companies may submit pricing and technical information sufficient to demonstrate their ability to meet the Government's requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete the requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
